The following takes a closer look into a Pomeranian and Siberian Husky giving you an up close and personal look at this designer hybrid.

What is a Pomsky?

Putting it simple, a Pomsky is a mix between a Pomeranian and Siberian Husky. This hybrid is relatively new with breeders starting the trend around 2010 – 2011. While only recently recognized as a designer dog breed by the American Kennel Club and The Pomsky Club of America helps sets the standard of qualifications and registration which is nationally recognized.

With the many physical variations between a Pomeranian and Husky being so radical, to say a Pomsky will have a specific set of characteristics when born is difficult to say the least. The somewhat unpredictable nature can be seen in the fur color, eye color, weight to an extent, and other physical features which helps makes each litter so unique. On the other hand, there are many similarities between litters including a high level of energy, soft and long fur coat, lovable nature, and outgoing personality.

If Size Matters

If size matters, then adopting a Pomsky is definitely for you. The typical small size is something that appeals to most prospective buyers as they are the ideal living companion which is virtually perfect for any environment. Whether you live in an apartment, house, or have plenty of acreage for your little friend to run you will find out that they’re definitely not too big.

When full grown, the average size of a Pomsky comes in anywhere from 10-15 pounds, and while not common, you can find one for under 10 pounds. Typically, smaller Pomskies cost more which can be as high as $3000 or more, and that’s only if you can find one.

What About Children?

Pomskies are wonderful around children, but only if raised in the right environment. Their calm and extremely playful nature makes them appeal to younger children who are able to devote plenty of time and love. Older children as in teenagers have a tendency to  be more social with others and typically lack the time and devotion that Pomskies need daily. This is the case with most dogs and is definitely the case with this designer breed and is something to consider if you have kids.
